Have you decided to include your dog in your wedding day (best decision ever!), or are you still looking for reasons why you should? Look no further! We’ve compiled 7 dog wedding photo ideas that will add a whole new layer of cuteness to your big day.

Why include your dog in your wedding photos?

If you want our opinion, the better question to ask is why not

  • Dogs bring us so much joy and happiness so it makes sense that they are a part of one of the most memorable days in your life.
  • Including your dog in your wedding photos can be a great way to honour and remember them as part of your big day.
  • Your dog will bring a unique and personal touch to your wedding photos.
  • Your wedding photos will be more fun, memorable, and unique with your furry friend in them.
  • Your dog will be a hit with all your wedding guests and help everyone relax and have more fun when the photos are being taken.

7 Dog Wedding Photo Ideas

1) Getting ready with your pooch

We absolutely love the idea of having your dog with you while you get ready. Have your bestie cheer you on while you prepare for your big day and in return help your fur baby get their harness, flower collar or tuxedo on. Cute photo op right there!

2) Have a first look with your dog

Whether or not you’re having one with your partner, why not include a first look with your pooch? We can guarantee your dog will be so excited to see you and this makes for such a sweet photo op. Just make sure someone checks your dog’s paws beforehand so you don’t get any dirt on your dress.

3) Have your pup walk down the aisle

Whether your dog is walking you down the aisle or you’re getting a Wedding Pet Assistant to walk your dog to you, this is the ultimate photo moment at your wedding. We can guarantee your dog of honour will be stoked to see you at the end of the aisle and capturing your guests’ reactions when your dog struts his stuff will be magical.

4) Have your dog ‘sign’ your wedding certificate

One of our favourite dog wedding photo ideas is during the signing of your marriage certificate. Have you and your partner place one of your hands on your certificate and help your dog place their paw on top. Your wedding photographer will have to be quick, but this creates such a sweet keepsake.

5) Have a special moment together during your couple portraits

Your couple portraits are a beautiful and intimate part of your wedding day and a perfect time to catch-up with your partner after the formalities are done and dusted. Your photographer will whisk you away to some photogenic locations at your wedding venue after the ceremony. This is a great time to bring your dog along for some sentimental snaps.

6) Have your dog be part of the bridal party photos

Wedding photos with the bridal party are generally full of energy and lots of fun. The perfect setting for your pooch to join in for some extra smiles! Your bridal party will love getting some extra cuddles in and it might help relax anyone with wedding photo jitters. Win-win!

7) Have your pooch ‘help’ cut the cake

Include your dog in the yummiest part of the day! Have them stand between you and your partner and take in all the love in the room as you say your thank yous and cut the cake. And how about organising a pup-cake for your dog to enjoy while you have a first taste of your wedding cake? Your dog will not only love you for it, but it will also create a cute photo op while he devours his treat.
